Learning More… of Faith and Hope

Don’t you love how God sometimes teaches you things by showing it to you again and again in His Word?  God has been teaching me more about faith and hope and their connectedness.  Today, I had one of those “aha” moments– a thing I’ve known for years suddenly took on a new, deeper meaning.  It was like looking through a hazy window, then God breathed on the glass and wiped it with His sleeve so I could look through and see things in crisper detail.

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” (Hebrews 11:1 NLT)

“Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. For God had said to him, “That’s how many descendants you will have!” And Abraham’s faith did not weaken, even though, at about 100 years of age, he figured his body was as good as dead—and so was Sarah’s womb. Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous.” (Romans 4:18-22 NLT)

Faith is the confidence of your hope! And we have hope because God keeps His promises!! 🙂

What has He been teaching you?  Have you had an “aha-moment” lately?

  1. This is a wonderful a-ha moment! Thank you for sharing! This might not count, really, but each Thursday I have to work all day and night without much sleep the night before. I keep thinking that I need to change my schedule, or maybe He will change what I do each Thursday. But last night He reminded me of that fact we always say . ..when I’m weak, then He is strong. It is an opportunity for Him to show Himself strong for me, and for it to be a testimony and a witness. 🙂
    God bless you and yours!

  2. I love what the Lord reminded you, Debbie! He’s so wonderful to teach us and remind us, isn’t He? Praying that He will be strong in you and that you will shine for Him like the stars in the universe… each Thursday especially, but every other day, as well. 🙂 Many blessings back to you and yours!
