His Awesome Power

Powerfully Fortified Grain by Ian Sane

As Believers, we know God is powerful. We’re aware of His ability to do absolutely anything for His glory and our eternal good. Lately, I’ve been dwelling on God’s unsearchable might.

This week, in my Glorious Grace study with the Hello Mornings ministry, I’ve been focusing on Eph 1:15-23. A theme continues to jump out at me as I read and study the words within that Scripture reference.

God’s incredible power is taught to the Ephesians (and to us) right there in those few words.

Awesome power that (among other things):

  • Raised Christ from the dead
  • Exalted Jesus above all else
  • Established Jesus as the head of the body of Christ ( the Church)

First, how do we come to know that power? How do we access an unfathomable power that can raise the dead and exalt them to a place above everything else on, above, or below earth, or even in the physical or spiritual realm? How do we access that?

Paul gives the answer in verse 17:

…”that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,” (ESV)

So, coming to know the power comes from God (who else!) as He gives us a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him. As we know Him better, we will gain knowledge of His mighty, awesome power! As we draw near to Him, and He draws near to us (James 4:8), we can’t help but see His dazzling beauty and His wondrous power!

You have the ability to know and experience God’s awe-inspiring power in your life. Isn’t that mind-boggling? The Creator of the World wants you to know how powerful He is! He loves each of us so much that He desires us to know Him… and truly knowing Him means knowing His power.

God, by His power

…”put all things under his” [Jesus] “feet and gave him as head over all things to the church,” (Eph 1:22, ESV)

Did two words jump off the page and shout joyfully in your face like they did in mine?

Oh, my goodness, yes! All things!

What’s bothering you right now? What are you struggling with or fighting against? What makes you feel like giving up? What’s hurting you? Stress? Sickness? Pain? Fear? Confusion? Worry? Financial problems?

God’s Holy Word has good news for you today, fellow Believer!

ALL THINGS are under Jesus’ feet!

From John Gill’s commentary:

“Moreover, this may reach to everything that is for the glory of Christ as Mediator, and for the good of his church, and to every enemy of his or theirs, as the world, sin, Satan, and the last enemy, death; to prove the subjection of all which to Christ, this testimony is produced: and respects Christ as Mediator, and the Father’s delivering all things into his hands, and giving him all power in heaven and in earth, and rule over all creatures and things;” {{emphasis mine}}

See? Nothing—nothing – is too big or powerful or too difficult or too scary for Him to handle. All things are under His feet! He is Lord over all and He is far superior to life’s challenges and dilemmas. He has a great plan and an excellent solution for you.

“For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your welfare, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jer 29:11, HCSB)

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Rom 8:28, NIV)

So name your problem. Don’t be afraid to even name it out loud… Just say it this way, “God has put ______ under Jesus’s feet!”

Show faith in your belief that God is good. Because He is. And He’s so powerful. And He uses that power for His dear, beloved children… and that’s you!

Do you need to remember God’s power in a certain part of your life?
